#throwback Friday: LACOSTE tennis playing croc T-shirt

This one-off T-shirt design, commissioned by LACOSTE, was a total joy to create – using pen and ink, and watercolour. The brief was very open – to re-imagine the LACOSTE crocodile logo for a T-shirt.

The crocodile was easy - but for the outfit - I had to experiment a bit! In the end, I decided to take references from LACOSTE’s original 1970s designs – ‘76 was the year they launched the 'crocodiles' advertising campaign so this felt really appropriate.

I also wanted to hat tip René Lacoste, who not only founded the company in the ‘20s - he also invented the first metal tennis racket (seriously!). It’s his racket the croc is using in my artwork.
